Hi everyone and thanks for visiting my site.  My name is Norma Renee Brown. My friends call me, “Renee.” I am the owner and author of waitingtoexcel.com.  I love to share things that help people, naturally and spiritually. I am a born again Christian and I don’t hesitate to share my faith in Jesus Christ.  I am married to a wonderful, intelligent man named Tim Brown.   We live in Cordova, TN with our two children Allison Mckenzie (a.k.a  Alli) and Timothy Matthew (a.k.a. Matt).

I’m from the small town of Toone, TN. At this point, I know most of you are asking yourselves “Where is that?” Let’s just say Toone is so small it doesn’t have a high school (LOL).  I actually attended a feeder high school; Bolivar Central.  Anyway, as a small child I grew up shelling peas, shucking corn, and breaking beans.  Yep, that’s how country I am!

After graduating from high school in 1999, I attended college at the University of Memphis. I loved college.  It was a time filled with getting to know people from different backgrounds, having fun, and experiencing intellectual and spiritual growth. I accepted Jesus Christ into my life as my personal Lord and Savior in July of 2000, after having a near death experience in which God allowed me to see and feel a glimpse of Hell. Receiving Christ into my life was and still is the most important and best decision I’ve ever made. If you haven’t made the decision to serve Jesus Christ, I want to encourage you to do so today. You won’t regret it! A couple of years later, I became a member of one of the greatest churches ever, The Citadel of Deliverance Church of God in Christ.  There, I received my Evangelist Missionary license and most of my ministerial training.

In December of 2004, I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Foreign Language. Approximately two months later, I became a Spanish teacher in the Memphis City School District. Although it was a challenge, I enjoyed teaching high school aged kids. They taught me how to be more sensitive to the needs of others.

I met my handsome husband Tim in April of 2006.  We were married in November of 2007.  After marriage, my husband and I joined Rosemark Church of God in Christ, where we serve as youth leaders.  We love our church!!!  Our beautiful baby girl, Alli was born April 18, 2009. On December 26, 2010, I gave birth to a handsome baby boy, Matt.  Since giving birth to our first child, I’ve become a full time stay at home mom and wife. Motherhood is full of so many surprises.  Some pleasant and some not so pleasant but I love it!  I’ve gone through several huge transitions in the last few years.  It has been through these life experiences, I began to realize what being a virtuous woman really means. Everyday, God is teaching me how to acquire the characteristics of a true virtuous woman.

While reading about the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31.  The verse, “Many daughters have done virtuously but thou excellest them all”  Proverbs 31:29, really stood out in my mind. I thought, “Wow I want to be truly be a virtuous woman and excel.”  In February of 2010, I decided to launch waitingtoexcel.com, as a place to write about and focus on the everyday challenges women face, as well as my life experiences as a wife, mother, friend, sister, Christian woman, and the many hats I wear. I also wanted  to have fun and share my favorite youtube videos and cooking recipes. Every post on this site is designed to inspire you in some way.

I have a passion for writing and love people. I pray you are encouraged and blessed by my site. I look forward to sharing many experiences with you as I am on my journey to becoming the virtuous woman as described in Proverbs 31.  Again, thank you for taking the time to visit.
